My Weekend Picks 2

Like This!

Last Saturday was good as I moneylined Michigan at +140. The only bet I made on Saturday and it was a winner. I started Sunday off with two wins in the morning and loaded up on the Niners thinking they were going to blow Seattle out, I could not have been more wrong. Seahawks 31-6. It’s a new week and although I will be Palm Springs for the weekend I’m still planning on hitting the book and having some money waiting at Red Rock when I get back.

My College Pick of the Week is…

Cal (-3) @ Nevada

My pick here is Nevada and I really haven’t had much time to look it over. Nevada’s dual threat quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, is going to have a Denard Robinson-type game tonight in Reno. Nevada is a good team and I think this is the year that they knock off a big conference team. Don’t be fooled by the blow out of Colorado last weekend.

My NFL Pick of the Week is…

Kansas City (+2) @ Cleveland

I saw some of the game on Monday night and I think that defense looks good. Derrick Johnson led the defense with 12 tackles. Rookie’s Eric Berry and Javier Arenas played like they have been playing for years. I am going to moneyline KC. My one concern is that KC is coming off a short week and this week may be a let down for them after beating the AFC West champs.

NCAA Pick of the Week: 2-0

NCAA Record: 2-3

NFL Pick of the Week: 1-0

NFL Record: 2-2

My Bankroll for Week 2: $14.30

My Overall Bankroll: $2.45

My Weekend Picks

Like This!

Well, this kid is 1-4 in his picks this week, down 3 month’s rent and owes the Red Rock casino a few bucks for “spotting” me.

It’s a new week though. Let’s get after it!

Well, a lot of good football on this weekend. A lot of cross-conference games that I am looking forward to, but nothing like the Michigan-Notre Dame Game. It’s the true test for the maize & blue. If you’re reading this you should probably fade (go against) me.

My College Pick of the Week….

Michigan (+3.5) @ Notre Dame

For the 2nd weekend in a row I am betting with my heart and that usually is never a good idea. I thought Michigan looked real good last weekend in Ann Arbor and I think they’ll bring their ‘A’ game to South Bend. I like the moneyline (+160) on this too, as I think Michigan wins outright. Notre Dame in the post-Weiss era did not impress me against Purdue, I actually lost money on them last week. I see the Irish loading the box to try to stop “Shoelace”, but I think he shows the world that he has an arm too. Michigan 27 – 20.

Go Blue!

My NFL Pick of the Week…

Miami (-3) @ Buffalo

This game jumps off the board and screams, “pick me!” “pick me!” like the last kid picked in dodgeball which usually scares me, but I think Miami is a solid team this year. Chad Henne(from…Michigan!) will put up pro bowl-like numbers with the addition of Brandon Marshall. How is Miami only a 3 point favorite? I can name 3 players on the Bills, but no, come to think of it, Jim Kelly doesn’t play anymore, so I got 2. I like Miami 31 – 13.

My Superbowl 45 Predictions

Like This!

BREAKING NEWS: The NFL season kicks off tonight in New Orleans, if you’ve lived under a rock the last couple of weeks, you may not have known that. We here at SCT like to keep you updated with the latest and greatest news from all over the globe.

It could not have come any sooner because the boys here at Sin City Trifecta were starting to get bored. Yeah, the strip clubs are a fun place to hang out on Sunday afternoon, but it gets expensive and Hesh has had to drag me out on more than one occasion.

Who’s ready for some football?

Saints-Vikings, Brett Favre, New OrleansPhoto: Damian Strohmeyers/SI

This WILL NOT be like the NFC Championship game 8 months ago. Saints opened up at a 5.5 point favorite and are a 7 point favorite at one book. I like the Saints. The Vikings are missing Sidney Rice, the Williams boys are out and Brett Favre is one hit away from eating out of a straw for the rest of his life. I think New Orleans will be “jacked up” tonight. They’ve been riding high on the team’s first Superbowl win 7 months ago and I think they start the 2010-11 season on a high note. I also have Brees on my fantasy team.

***NOT MY PICK OF THE WEEK***

Just had to weigh in on the first game of the season

NFL Breakdown by Sin City Trifecta:

Now, I could break it down by division and give you my picks in the playoffs, but that’s a lot of shit to read and I really haven’t watched enough game film to do that. I’ll give you my picks for the two teams in the AFC to beat, as well as, the NFC.

I will have a weekly Pick of the Week for the NFL also. I am 1-0 in College. I’ll share the game or games I am looking forward to and give you my $.02. I’ll also do a weekly wrap up of the previous week and have weekly winners and losers.

My Predictions:

NFC Championship

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers, Lambeau Field

I think Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers host Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys. It’s not going to be cold as the Ice Bowl between the same two teams 44 years ago,  but it’ll be in single digits and that will affect Romo. I think Aaron Rodgers has an MVP-like year and with the addition of the 2009 Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the year, Bryan Bulaga, protecting his backside; Rodgers will flourish. Romo doesn’t fumble a snap in this game, but may make a mistake late in the 3rd quarter that ends the Cowboys dreams of playing the Superbowl in their hometown, Dallas. Green Bay 20 – 10.

AFC Championship

The Baltimore Ravens go into Lucas Oil Stadium to take on Peyton Manning and the Colts. Unlike last year’s 20-3 loss, the Ravens’ offense shows up this time. The Ravens have always been known for their defense, but this is the year that the offense makes some headlines. Joe Flacco is going to have a monster season with the signings of Boldin, Stallworth and just last week, T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Don’t forget Todd Heap either. Baltimore 27 -24.

The Superbowl

The Packers and the Ravens in Dallas, Jerry Jones isn’t at the game because he is still upset his team lost at Leambeau two weeks prior. I hope this is the game because I want to watch Ray Lewis do this again. This game starts out slow as both young quarterbacks are nervous playing on this stage. I see a 7-3 game at halftime. Harbaugh and McCarthy make the adjustments at half and open it up a little bit, but Rodgers makes a crucial throwing error in the 4th quarter and Ed Reed picks him off and takes it the other way for six. The Packers never recover. The Baltimore Ravens are your Superbowl champs with a 23 – 13 win in Jerry’s World.

College football kicked off last weekend and we here at Sin City Trifecta started a new column here titled, Sports Betting. I will share my opinions on the hot bets in ciollege and pro football.

Last week my Pick of the Week was Michigan (-3). Michigan won 30-10. Easy money.

I am not completely sold on Denard Robinson as I think his durability will be in question if he continues to carry the ball 29 times/game. The 6-foot 193 lb. quarterback/running back is going to be fun to watch his fall. I look forward to an exciting season. Here are some of the highlights from “Shoelace”.

My Pick of the Week (Vol. 1)

Like This!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!

This off season seems longer that most(that’s what she said).

Maybe because I wasn’t working or…

Maybe I am a degenerate sports gambler(kidding Mom).

Anywho…College football started last night and like Oprah at an all-you-can-eat Dunkin Donut buffet, I’m excited!

This is a new category for Sin City Trifecta where I’ll offer my Pick of the Week (POW) for NFL and College football. I’ll keep a running tally of my winnings and my win/loss record. I’ll also share the game I’m looking forward to most. I may or may not break it down technically. My picks will most likely be based on recent trends and which ever school has the nicer looking student body. I have learned in 3+ years out here in Vegas that there is no science to sports gambling.

My Pick of the Week

Connecticut @ MICHIGAN (-3)

My Pick is Michigan and here is why…

Biased? Yes. I really think Rich Rod will have the boys ready to play tomorrow afternoon in Ann Arbor. His job is on the line. I honestly believe if they don’t go bowling this year he is out. Fair is fair. He’s had 3 years and 5 NCAA violations. UCONN is going to be a contender this year in the Big East and the scheduling Gods at Michigan are absolutely crazy to schedule them to kick off the 2010-2011 season. Why not play a cupcake? (ex: North Dakota, Presbyterian or Towson)

TALE OF THE TAPE

Admission to Union:

Michigan - 1837 (26th) ..                         Connecticut - 1788 (5th)

I think the last line says it all…

Winners Win!

Like This!

What I don’t do is Fail!

Born and bred where you parents’ car was probably assembled; Detroit. Well, actually a town 40 miles West of the big D, which will remain nameless, as I have a few gambling debts to clean up.

Defying logic, common sense, and a court order, I decided to head out West, to make love to my desert mistress, the big sin; Las Vegas. It has been a torrid, three year affair that has brought me some joy and much sorrow. Vegas is that fast girl in high school; a good time, but not the one you want to settle down with. So three years later, in a town full of second chancers and last hopers, I am still standing. Actually, I am just getting started babe!

What do you get when you mix an avid sports fan, former pop Warner football legend and legal gaming; a perfect parlay.  My success in sports gambling is due to my dedication as a sports fan. I’m sure there are other handicappers around who can brag about a fancy record…good for you. Regardless, I enjoy researching games that already interest me as a fan. Even better is that rush when your pick hits. Which is why come football season, I move my Lazy Boy into the Sports book of the Red Rock Hotel and Casino and spend weekends there. Not really, but almost…and when do I leave you ask; when I win!

I’m here to offer you my insights and tips. More importantly, I’m here to share my passion for professional and college sports with other fans and gamblers. At the end of the day I hope you enjoy the games as much as I do and take it all with a grain of salt, cause at the end of the day…it’s just game…
